Your first assignment (Don't all jump for joy at once!)

Hello Ladies and Gentleman! Welcome to my blog!

Since we are living in a technology-focused world, it only makes sense that you have the opportunity to use technology in school. The blog that you will create will be a place where you'll complete homework assignments, make comments on your classmates' responses and feel free to write down your ideas, thoughts, questions, comments, concerns, etc. about the material that we are covering in class.

Today, you have five main tasks.

#1) Check out some blogs. Go to http://blogsofnote.blogspot.com/ and check out at least three blogs. If you know of other blogs, check those out as well. These will hopefully serve as a sense of inspiration for how you would like to design and use your blog. (NOTE: Keep at least three blog tabs open so you can return to them later)

#2) Create your own blog! Go to https://accounts.google.com/NewAccount?hl=en&continue=http://www.blogger.com/create-blog.g&service=blogger&naui=8
If you already have a google account, use it. If not, create one. Just a reminder, your username and anything you post on this blog need to be school appropriate.

#3) Spend some time designing and playing around with the different options blogspot.com offers you. Your blog should reflect some aspect of your personality. You can play with backgrounds, fonts, colors, etc.

#4) Become a follower of my blog - msrileydcc.blogspot.com --> This is how I will know where to find you when I'm checking in on your assignments!

#5) By 5pm on Thursday, October 27/Friday, October 28, you need to have written reflections to at least three different blogs. Remember, not all of the Internet is censored, so be careful what material you are searching for and what blogs you choose to analyze for this assignment. Your reflection should include the following:

  • A copy of the blog's URL
  • A brief description of the blog's purpose
  • One thing that you liked about the blog and would consider incorporating into your own
  • One thing that you disliked about the blog
  • One thing that you learned from the blog that you didn't know before (You should learn at least one new thing a day)
This response will take place on your own blog. Go to "Create a New Post" and fill out the following information for each of your three blog inspirations. Let me know if you have questions on this assignment.
